LEGISLATIVE INTERN @ CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY

As a legislative intern for Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan in Spring 2022, I engaged with diverse constituents to address key policy issues and refine state legislation. I researched mental health policies to aid in advancing bill AB-2089 in the California State Capitol, led an intern cohort, and collaborated with well-known organizations to provide evidence-based recommendations.

POLICY MEMOS
As a legislative intern, I researched and created several policy memos. This memo stands out the most because it created the legislation on the left. My research for mental health app privacy became a bill later signed into law - AB 2089. It was incredibly rewarding to see my research make a direct impact on the community.

QUALITY EDUCATION PRESENTATION

During my internship interview with Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, I presented the lack of quality education, a topic I felt strongly about as a recent high school graduate. The presentation highlighted diverse learning needs, mental health education, and ways our district could help improve education.

LEGISLATIVE PROPOSAL

I proposed a legislative amendment to AB-1440 to address rising thefts in AD 16 by clarifying penalties and enhancing law enforcement collaboration. The plan includes raising community awareness, especially among seniors, through targeted outreach and public campaigns.
